Media Kit

Company

Better Homes and Gardens, Des Moines, Iowa

Scope

Better Homes and Gardens is one of the leading home and lifestyle magazines. It is essential that their media kit reflect the magazine’s inspirational creativity and emphasis on style and self-expression. The clean, beautiful design of the kit needed to be executed with perfection, and Hatteras always aims to do just that. The final kit was hand assembled, shrink-wrapped for protection, and drop-shipped to all of the national Better Homes and Gardens' offices.

Deliverables

The media kit consisted of a capacity pocket folder with four die cut tab inserts enclosed. Each component of the kit was finished with Soft Touch AQ, creating both a soft feel and a high quality effect. For increased visual impact, the cover of the pocket folder received a high-contrast gloss on the repeated Better Homes and Gardens logo. Initially, a spot gloss varnish was requested for this effect. To optimize the contrast, testing of both spot gloss UV and clear foil stamping on the stock was done. It was then determined that spot gloss UV was the best choice for this project. The finishing techniques implemented on this piece ensured its maximum impact.

Hatteras is always up for a challenge; we pride ourselves on providing the best solution, often exploring different techniques to achieve a desired effect. Our print veterans, with vast knowledge and experience use that knowledge to help guide a project through and prove to be invaluable resources.

Client Testimonial

Working with Bob Befumo at Hatteras was great. He was a super professional and was able to get us a quote very quickly. Upon approval of the artwork, we got a proof immediately and had our media kit produced within a couple of weeks. We were very happy about the quality of the media kit and couldn’t have been more pleased with how the finished piece turned out. In addition, Bob was very helpful and assisted us in determining what the best varnish/spot UV treatment to use was. He was readily available to give suggestions to ensure a great final product.
